Trish Crossin

Senator Trish Crossin has represented the Northern Territory in the Senate since 1998 and is the first woman elected to Federal Parliament from the NT.
Trish has a long involvement with the Australian Labor Party, and has been an active financial member since the early 1980’s. She has been Vice President of the NT Branch, and National Conference Delegate. In early 2008, Trish became President of the NT Branch.

Elected to the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly as the Member for Sanderson in the August 2008 NT general election, representing the Country Liberals, I was appointed as the Shadow Minister for Young Territorians, Seniors, Multicultural Affairs, Racing, Gaming and Licensing and assisting the Leader of the Opposition on Disability Services.
In 1978 my daughter Kristy was born followed in 1979 by my identical twin sons Adam and Damien.  In 1989 our family was devastated when at the age of 36, my wife lost her battle with cancer.  I continued to raise our children as a sole parent, experiencing the struggles and rewards of day to day parenting. 
My sons provided many amusing moments, such as impersonating each other at school and getting away with it but not telling the story until later in their adolescence.  I am sure that other parents of identical twins will relate to this as a familiar story. 
As a parent and citizen, I support the work and aims of the Australian Multiple Birth Association and wish the AMBA every success in the future.
