HISTORY OF MULTINET MULTIPLE BIRTH ASSOCIATION
The ‘seed’ to form a club to retain the interest of parents of older multiples was planted over lunch at the AMBA National Convention held at Geelong in 2003.
A number of attending delegates from various states agreed that it would be beneficial to have a group which specifically targeted parents with multiples who were no longer babies.
Quite often there is talk but no action so whilst en-route from Convention to their homes the founding committee held the inaugural meeting of Multinet in transit and the club was officially ‘conceived’ on 27th October 2003.

Our Mission Statement is:- Multinet Multiple Birth Association is an Australia-wide association established to meet the needs of parents of older multiples through the sharing of information via a newsletter, meetings and organised social functions.

Our Motto is:- “Parenting multiples….. it’s not just about babies”
|
|
| |
Multinet membership consists of members of affiliated AMBA clubs along with several parents of multiples who had allowed the membership of their local clubs to lapse several years ago. These members have regained interest due to the specific nature of Multinet. We also welcome membership from multiple birth clubs throughout Australia whose committees wish to more aggressively meet the needs of their members with older multiples.

We aim to assist multiple birth families fill the “gap” of knowledge that so often occurs at local club level as well as encouraging our members to maintain the friendships that may have been formed in earlier years as members of local clubs. We also endeavour to share information on a range of issues that arise as our multiples face school, adolescence, tertiary education, careers, leaving home, getting married and beyond.

As it is difficult for an Australia-wide club such as Multinet to organise fundraising, merchandising is used as a tool to raise funds to cover the costs of running our Association. Each year our members take merchandise to AMBA State Seminars and National Conventions for the benefit of all multiple birth families and to help promote our group to further the support given to multiple birth families.
